A single centre 7 day holiday.
Explore the wonderful rural idyll of Arcadia, home to a huge national park of protected environments from the mountain tops of the Parnon range to the wetlands of Moustos and the beaches of Kynouria.
We aim to walk at your pace, allowing you to soak up the atmosphere of this untouched environment, with a balance of walking and relaxing.
Views and sights
On our weekly itinerary we balance time by the coast, with time up in the mountains. This gives you a huge range of views and flora to enjoy and plenty of history too.
Whether we spend the day walking from village to village or monastery to monastery we will always have wonderful flowers around and stories of the old days.
To start your day
Your day will start at the Oceanis hotel on the seafront in Tyros, where you have uninterrupted views to the sea for the sunrise and time for a quick early swim or wander for a few photographs along the water’s edge.
Breakfast will be laid ready by Roula and Tassos with fresh bread, local marmalade, honey and eggs of your choice with Greek yogurt and fruit in season. There will be plenty of coffees and teas to choose from including the mountain tea picked locally on the slopes of Parnon.
You spend your day walking on the mountain paths with views to the sea or to mountain peaks passing through villages with traditional buildings and meeting with shepherds. You will stop to see the flowers and mushrooms, monasteries and ancient ruined walls and temples half hidden in the greenery and catch sight of the buzzards and eagles hunting around you.
Time to relax
The day may end with a swim at a white pebble beach or a taverna with a blazing fire depending on the weather! You will try the local dishes of rabbit stifado, or pork with chestnuts accompanied by fried cheese bread, salads and handpicked mountain greens. We only use the tavernas that are open all year round where the food is local, organic and cooked with a passion!
Back to Tyros you will have a chance for a late stroll along the seafront for a nightcap or sit on your balcony to watch the moon rise over the windmills and water.
Through the week you will also have opportunities to shop for pottery, handloom tapestries and carpets, and rural products from the women’s cooperative.
